In Albuquerque?? In October??

It's full-blown SNOWING out there right now. The bad news is that Howard is out leading a hike in the middle of nowhere, way past Cabezon, miles and miles of dirt road off the highway, no cell reception. I stayed home due to the bad cold. I'll update when I hear from/see him!

*Update: He's back! There were only four hikers in all so they took one guy's SUV. He is a great driver and did fine. They got to see the fabulous panel of petroglyphs through the falling snow and hiked through 2" on the way back to the car. All's well that ends well!

Wow! What a coincidence - right before I saw your post, I was feeling sorry for myself because it is rainy and blustery today, and Ukiah, Palo Alto and Santa Ana are having wonderful temps and sunny weather. Now I don't feel so bad. I hope they are okay, and that driving is not too slippery. Thanks for keeping us posted!

The Catmint in the picture looks remarkably calm, as if to say, "yeah, snow? That all ya got?" And look at those red Poms looking like Christmas ornaments on a tree. Happy holidays everyone!
Glad that Honcho came back unscathed!

sounds like all in all mister carr may have benefited from the snow and seen something more spectacular than normal... good stuff!

marian if it makes you feel any better, we had a *crazy* wind storm the other night (you may have read about the issues with the bay bridge in SF), which meant that all the roofing equipment was scraping around my roof all night, terrifying both me and chloe. ugh!

I agree Mango - three cheers for Honcho coming back in one piece. I called Nancy after this post, and she had just hung up from Honcho reporting in that all was well. What an adventurer!

Ikea, I did hear about the Bay Bridge. I cringed when I read the article; I a can only imagine the traffic nightmare that will last for a while.

We've had worse winds out here and the bridges have done fine...even while swaying! This event wasn't nearly as bad as I can recall...1983 for instance...The putz who 'repaired' this particular part of the bridge obviously couldn't engineer hitting his ass with both hands...as far as the snow goes....fear the cold...and enjoy the interglacial while it lasts....
