One good snow scene deserves another

Well, I don't know how good it is, but it's my first snow scene. This is my version of a photograph that Marge took. It depicts Tom's Gator tracks up the road to their lot after an amazing (and unusual) snowfall at Berrenda. The tallest peak is Berrenda mtn. I had to cheat and use white gouache to get the highlight line on the right side of the track. This was very fun to paint!

I like the shading on the snow tracks and near the barren bush. I can feel the cold from here! Would also love to see the original. Glad you enjoyed the process.

This is so beautiful! I just want to follow that road and see where it leads. Thanks for sharing!

(I deleted my previous comment due to a typo. oops!)

Thanks for the feedback. Next time, I will make the blue sky on the left side darker to make the slope pop more. I also went back in and darkened the foreground sticks/grasses as they were too light.

this is great! you're totally primed and ready to make some personalized, snowy holiday cards :)

Aw, thanks! I may just have to get going on those cards to have enough by Christmas. White Gouache (i.e. snow) is my new best friend.

I thought it was a photo too! Beautiful! What a natural. We framed the beautiful painting you gave us. I will have to take a picture!

Wow, Yelly, I'm honored that you thought the card was worth framing!
And really, I'm not a natural. I just practice alot-this stuff is all learnable, and chock full of trial and error!
